William Petty
Will is relatively new to obstacle course racing but his time in the army left him well prepared and he has had top 20 finishes in his first two elite races, placing excellently in the recent Iskandar Beast race. He is also a coach down at Ministry Of Fitness, a gym in Singapore that we love to train at due to their range of OCR obstacles and bootcamps. We've got the feeling you'll be seeing lots more of him in upcoming races! Check out his full interview below.
Age: 26
How did you first get in to OCR?
You guys actually got me into it, thanks! Sean gave me his ambassador code in the last Singapore Sprint.
What is your favourite race or OCR experience?
My favourite OCR experience was the recent race in Iskandar. Travelling with you both and Emily and turning up to the race as a team really was the best.
What is your favourite obstacle?
The rope is my favourite obstacle, I was in the army so I have some experience of ropes and monkey bars. Z Wall or Spear throw is my least favourite!
What is your biggest achievement in OCR racing?
8th place in my second elite Spartan race is my biggest achievement so far.
What is your must have OCR item?
I would genuinely say you guys are my biggest must have OCR item, haha. But, kit wise I would say good shoes for the terrain you will be racing are integral. I have also really enjoyed training on the FitBarStrong that we have at Ministry Of Fitness, it’s excellent for building upper body strength.
Favourite post race snack?
I’ve not managed to nail my favourite post race snack down yet but I always have a HUEL drink which is essentially a healthy meal replacement.
When is your next race and why did you choose it?
Vietnam will be my next race in February 2020. I am really excited about this one as I am taking a team out to race with Ministry Of Fitness.
What is your favourite mantra when things get tough?
In the Army we always used to say - Train Hard, Fight Easy.
